Potency

The Potency Committee investigates the active components of cannabis medicines and how to best quantify them. We are researching and developing consistent methods for laboratories and individuals to test and evaluate cannabanoids (such as THC, CBNs, & CBDs), turpenes, phenols and other components.

We are currently working on four objectives:

  1. Develop a list of active ingredients to test for potency, including THC, CBNs, CBDs, turpenes, phenols, and others. [WPM][IPM][EPM]
  2. Develop a scientific method to systemically bio-assay cannabis by which to rate the potency & efficacy of cannabis medicines. [WPM][IPM][EPM]
  3. Work with analytical labs to test for medicinal properties of THC, CBNs, CBDs, turpenes, phenols, and other components. [WPM][IPM][EPM]
  4. Teach patients how to self-titrate edible/ingestible medicines. [IPM]
